Case Study 1: Border Control, Mail server, and Web server together

In this section, we just briefly summarize the basic deployment scenarios mentioned previously. Those scenarios you might have seen many times when you read the introduction of the product features in the previous sections. But probably you do not have the chance to put those features together and use them by combining the features you know from other sections. We are going to introduce some simple scenarios to deploy a Mail/Web server along with the network planning in a typical small office environment.

The simplest scenario is to put firewall and mail server on the same machine illustrated as the following diagram. Since the firewall is equipped with NAT such that only one public IP address is needed. Those PCs shielded by the firewall can obtain a private IP address respectively via DHCP.

This configuration is with advantages by putting everything into one machine. Thus, all the effort needed is to concentrate on this machine by turning on some firewall ports or setting some proper parameters for mail or web server. However, the drawback is: the processing load is also carried by one machine only.
